Stunning Growth of eCommerce and mCommerce

How beautiful was Black Friday for consumers? Really a lot! With Thanksgiving and Black Friday, companies really racked in a lot of money, thanks to online shopping and mobile commerce. A 39% growth on Thanksgiving day along with 24% sales really made IBM's day for sure! ComScore reported a staggering Black Friday sales which was well over $816 million.

In the 25 days of November and December 2011, a total of $12.7 billion was traded. comScore reported a 35% jump in visits to online stores this year. The leader of this race was Amazon!

But that's not what is really making me excited! It's the stunning growth of mCommerce.

516%.

That's what PayPal is reporting for Black Friday 2011. There was a 317% increase in customers shopping on their mobile devices.

The real point is - what pushed the sales? How did Amazon and Walmart gained so much while many fell out? The answer is pretty simple - Smartphones and Social Media.

There has been a staggering jump in smartphones and Tablet sales off late. PayPal was confident about the surge as 46% respondents had already said Yes to mobile payments! But how does smartphone sales increase the chance of getting more profits for online shops? A lot!

Major retail sites have developed their own mobile sites optimized for touch-phones. Just log on to Amazon and Walmart from your Android or iPhone and you will definitely see a new website that loads fast and has the right kind of design to aid your product-search.

With mobile websites and constant promotion on social media about the kind of deals that are luring, companies really made a lot of money.

So, if you have missed the bus, then don't worry. As a business owner, you need to wake up and quickly create a mobile website for your business. This will definitely help you in the long run!
